Fred Ortiz

Founder | Healthcare Executive | Community Leader

Fred Ortiz has dedicated more than 35 years to serving the people of Brazoria County through emergency medical services, healthcare leadership, and community service. His career began as a paramedic, where he spent decades caring for patients and responding to emergencies throughout the region before transitioning into healthcare entrepreneurship and senior services.

Today, Fred is the founder and CEO of Help Inc., Help Home Health Hospice & Palliative Care, and the Senior Life Network, organizations committed to helping seniors and families navigate the challenges of aging with dignity, compassion, and trusted guidance. His mission has always been simple: improve lives by making quality care, education, and community resources more accessible.

Throughout his career, Fred has served in numerous leadership roles, taught EMS professionals across Texas, and has been recognized for his commitment to excellence, innovation, and public service. His passion extends beyond healthcare through active involvement with local chambers of commerce, civic organizations, churches, and community initiatives that strengthen Brazoria County.

Whether speaking to community groups, interviewing experts on the Senior Life Network Podcast, or working alongside families during some of life’s most difficult moments, Fred remains committed to serving others with integrity, compassion, and faith.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A CAREGIVER?

I’ve been a caregiver since I was 17.  I always told my mom growing up that when she gets to where she needs help, she could live with me forever and that I would take care of her.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A CAREGIVER?

I feel that being a caregiver is so rewarding.  You become the persons someone, their friend.  Being someone’s person, you are almost like a guardian angel.  Plus, the stories they share are amazing.

WHAT HOBBIES OR ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I spend most of my time off work with my kids and family.  Family means the world to me.

TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I’m a mom of two beautiful girls, Jewel, and Hera.  They are truly my life; my world revolves around them.  I feel caregiving has helped me be the best kind of nurturing person for them.  I also feel that being a mom has made me an even better caregiver.  I honestly believe I was meant for this.

I’ve been a caregiver for 23 years, and I love it!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A CAREGIVER?

I love just being there and helping them with their everyday life.  To hear them talk about their lives and family.

WHAT HOBBIES OR ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I like to go dancing, go play bingo, try new places to eat, to go try new things.

TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I am a mother of 4, three girls and 1 boy.  Grandma to 2, a boy and a girl.  I have a big heart when it comes to some people, but I can also tell when I am being used.  I get emotional easily.  I am OCD, so I like to clean.  I like to say I am a dependable person.  I will do anything to help anyone in need, and I don’t expect anything in return.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A CAREGIVER?

My favorite thing about being a caregiver is watching my patients get well.  I feel like a guardian angel that steps in when they need assistance.

WHAT HOBBIES OR ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I enjoy walking on the beach with my dog, Jack.  I enjoy reading, studying, and researching different theories in healthcare.

TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I like to paint.  I have an AS in Arts and Science and a BS in Behavioral Science.  My longtime goal is to be a Hospice Nurse.  I feel that when our loved ones are taking their last breaths, it is important to provide a calm and loving environment to lead them to the light.  I enjoy giving, being a caregiver is a very rewarding job.
